Szalai returns to training
Schröder: "That's why it was important we worked through our views and differences promptly".
Ádám Szalai will return to training with the team next week following the international break. This is after intense discussions between club chairman Stefan Hofmann, sporting director Rouven Schröder, the Hungarian national player and his advisor Oliver Fischer.
Sporting director Rouven Schröder said: “The past two weeks left us all scarred and ultimately it is negative for Mainz 05. Therefore it was important that we work out our difference of opinions promptly, clear up and avoid a legal dispute. The issues that led to this point have been cleared up. Ádám has explained to us that he definitely does not want to change or cancel his contract. As a result, he will remain a Mainz 05 player, and we have succeeded in creating a situation where Ádám can continue training with the team.”
I’m ready to leave what happened in the past and help contribute to the improvement of the team.
Ádám Szalai says: "I am happy to be part of the team again and continue to give everything for Mainz 05. Only together will we be able to master the tasks that lie ahead of us and forget about the difficult days that are now behind us. I am ready to leave what happened in the past and help contribute to the improvement of the team". Advisor Oliver Fischer remarked: "I regret the developments of the last few days. Nevertheless, after a constructive discussion we succeeded in finding a solution to move forward. I am pleased about this.”
