Beierlorzer: "A very important win for us"

Read all the post-match quotes from Mainz' 2-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Achim Beierlorzer won his first home game as Mainz boss against Frankfurt, and now has two wins from two against the Eagles as Zerofivers coach.

Relieved, happy and, above all, satisfied: After a deserved away win at Eintracht Frankfurt, the Zerofivers gave a great account of themselves both defensively and offensively.

Achim Beierlorzer: "It was such an important win for us. We kept a clean sheet, and absolutely deserved to do so. We didn't want to let Frankfurt into the game and always looked to hit them with our pace. That worked really well. We would've loved to go in front earlier, and missed two big chances. The first goal was a game-changer. They way we played in the second half reflects this team's mentality. You could see the sheer desire from our side. You don't always get rewarded, but we did today."

Daniel  Brosinski: "It was a really intense game. You could see that we just wanted to pick up all three points today. It wasn't the prettiest from us in the second half, but that doesn't matter. The win is what counts. Here's what relegation battles are all about: energy, putting in the yards, being tough in the challenge and going to thelong ball if needs be. If that's the recipe for survival, then we'll continue this way. We were wide awake and defended well all over the pitch. We shut down the spaces and were clinical going forward. The fact that we scored from a set-piece is a bit of a soul-soother!"

Kunde Malong: “It was intensive and we’re really happy that we fought so well. The win is very important for us and I’m happy that we got the three points. I always believe in my team, but I also believe in myself and my own qualities. We are always in a dangerous position, but we need to keep fighting and keep our heads up.“

Danny Latza: "The most important thing is that we won and we kept a clean sheet. I am so overjoyed, that we managed to win the match and with our very engaging performance. Everyone on the pitch and elsewhere believed that something clicked today. I said to the boys before the game, that I had a good feeling about this. You could feel it in the dressing room that we were up for this match. So we played great and deservedly won.”

Moussa Niakhaté: “I’m super satisfied and happy fort he team. It was an important game in the relegation battle and we had to give everything on the pitch today. All the players were amazing, it was a good team win. This is how we can fight the relegation battle. If I can help the team, I’m satisfied.”
